Smoking stick

Product description

The smoking stick is the basic accessory of every smoking trolley and smokehouse chamber — sausages, frankfurters, kabanos and other cased products are hung on it and stay on the stick through smoking, cooking and chilling. Our stick is made of high-quality stainless steel grade 1.4301 with a 1.5 mm wall thickness and is designed for use in smoking trolleys and chambers.

Material and hygiene: Grade 1.4301 (equivalent to AISI 304) is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel widely used for food-contact equipment. It resists corrosion and copes well with moisture, smoke condensate and daily washing with industrial detergents. Unlike wooden sticks, the smooth steel surface does not absorb fat, juices or odours, so the stick is easy to clean after every batch, which supports HACCP procedures in the plant. Two profiles: The stick is available in two versions — type A is a star-rolled stick and type B is a bent stick with an open profile. In both cases it is the shape of the cross-section, not the material thickness alone, that gives the stick the stiffness needed to carry a hanging load. When choosing a profile, the simplest guide is the sticks already in use in your plant and the shelves of your trolleys.

Length: Standard lengths are 980 mm and 1000 mm. The stick length is matched to the shelf spacing of the smoking trolley — the stick must rest securely on both shelves. For trolleys and chambers with non-standard dimensions, we make sticks in other lengths to individual order.

Compatible equipment: The sticks are used with our Z-type and H-type smoking trolleys, which are designed to work with both sticks and grids, and with smoking trolley shelves profiled for hanging sticks. For storing and moving sticks between batches, there is the smoking sticks caddy, which holds 250 to 300 sticks.

Stainless steel or aluminium? We also offer an aluminium smoking stick. Aluminium is noticeably lighter, which matters when product is hung by hand. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is harder, more resistant to mechanical damage and to strong, especially alkaline, cleaning agents that aluminium does not tolerate well — which makes it the better fit wherever sticks work hard and are washed after every batch.

We make sticks both to equip new trolleys and to top up or replace sticks already in use in your plant. Quantity, profile and length are agreed individually with each enquiry.
